Team BPS Runs Reebok Boston 10k for Women
This week, Boston Public Schools (BPS) employees participated in the Reebok Boston 10k for Women, fundraising for the Welcome Center at Bridge Over Troubled Waters and SoleTrain. Thanks to the generous support of the community, Team BPS was able to collect and donate funds to these two organizations whose programs directly benefit BPS students.
The run is New England’s largest all-women’s sporting event, featuring thousands of participants. Team BPS consisted of five runners, including the Office of External Affairs’ own Managing Director and Senior Advisor, Makeeba McCreary.
Learn more about our great causes:
Bridge Over Troubled Waters (BOTW) is Boston’s premier organization dedicated to transforming the lives of runaway, homeless, and high-risk youth. Their Welcome Center, provides safe, age-appropriate overnight accommodations for youth who turn to BOTW in need of shelter, many of whom are BPS students. Specific needs for the Welcome Center include MBTA student passes, winter clothing, school supplies, and electronic accessories.
SoleTrain is a community-building and mentoring program that uses running as a vehicle for setting and achieving seemingly impossible goals. As a supportive community of caring adults and peers, Sole Train champions young people, including many BPS students, as they realize their capacity for greatness.
