BPS students are the leaders, scholars, entrepreneurs, advocates, and innovators of tomorrow.
About the Street Team
A Street Team is a marketing strategy used to promote new products and events through grassroots tactics. Street teams are utilized across all industry sectors including the entertainment, technology, and fashion industries. Our BPS Street Team works with the OEA to test new and innovative products, and market OEA and district wide events.
The BPS Street Team, comprised of 15 BPS high school students, functions as a paid Marketing & Community Engagement Fellowship housed out of the Boston Public Schools, Office of External Affairs (OEA). Team members work with OEA to test and promote new products and initiatives. Through this process, students learn about development, communications, technology, and ways to build community buy-in. In addition to their role as marketers and interns, team members are provided with professional development training and exposure to various career opportunities. During the fellowship, students collaborate with BPS senior leadership and external partners to advance the mission of OEA and promote exposure, access, and equity for BPS students.

Currently, the Street Team is collaborating with a team of computer science students from Boston University’s BU Spark! program. Together, they are developing an app, More than a Mile, which encourages BPS students to explore Boston, using the City as a Classroom, and expand learning outside traditional settings.
