Marathon for a Cause: Loconto’s Run for the Valedictorian Luncheon
Boston School Committee Chairperson Michael Loconto will be running the 2018 Boston Marathon in support of the annual BPS Valedictorian’s Luncheon! You can join in his tremendous efforts by donating to the cause today.
While graduation season is a time to celebrate all of our graduates, this luncheon highlights the incredible achievements of those who rose to the top of their class. All proceeds from the fundraiser will be put directly into organizing and executing this special event.
Our BPS valedictorians are truly committed to both their academic work and extracurricular activities. They are role models for other young people and their contributions to our community are invaluable. In 2017 nearly three quarters of our valedictorians were female, and nearly half were born outside of the US.
A note from Michael: Thank you for considering a contribution toward the Boston Education Development Foundation, a 501(c)(3) supporting the Boston Public Schools. I am running my first marathon in Boston next month, and I can’t think of a better way to commemorate what might also be my last marathon than by using this occasion to raise funds to support our brightest students as they embark on the next steps in their educational careers. The Boston School Committee is proud to host an annual luncheon to celebrate and support our valedictorians, salutatorians and their families from across the 34 high schools in our district. BPS valedictorians and salutatorians are a diverse representation of the high levels of achievement in our district, and are tomorrow’s leaders for our City, the nation and the globe. Thank you again for joining with Mayor Walsh, Superintendent Chang, my Committee colleagues and I as we celebrate these talented neighbors, citizens and achievers.
We would like thank Michael for his great efforts in supporting our students. We would also like to thank all of you for your charitable donations – all funds raised will benefit Boston Public Schools students.Donate
